Hi, my name was Bandit when I was at Peaceable Kingdom. I adopted a new Mom & Dad Saturday, the 17th. Bandit seemed like a big dog name so since my Dad's name was Jack, Mom renamed me 'Jackson', Jack for short. I have a new brother, Buddy. I love my new home. Especially my big yard and cushy bed.
P.S. I'm the one with the short tail. :)

our little angel
6 years ago my husband and I saw a little pomapoo puppy on petfinder. We weren't really looking for a dog, but felt a connection. We ending up adopting her, and she has been the love of our lives ever since. Thank you peaceable kingdom for bringing this Angel into our lives!

Rescued puppy now rescues others.
I was looking for a dog, I swore after having 3 puppies, that I would not get another puppy. I searched on petfinder.com for months and applied to adopt several dogs with no luck. I was either too busy for the adoption agency to consider me or I didn't have the money they were asking for the adoption fees. After weeks of driving around to the local shelters, many many emails and applications, I finally found that a local shelter had a litter of puppies coming up for adoption. I emailed them right away and got my application in and was very excited about the prospect of getting another dog, even if it was going to be a puppy. I contacted my local search and rescue team, and talked with Bren Richards. I asked her about joining the team and told her about the litter of puppies and asked her if she would be willing to meet me to help pick one out that I could train for search and rescue, she agreed.
Adoption day came and their were 11 puppies to choose from. This litter of puppies and some other dogs were rescued from a pet hoarder. Brenda and I went through 8 of the puppies and narrowed it down to two, a boy and a girl. I had no preference one way or the other, but the boy showed a little less hesitation and we decided that he would be less work ti train than his sister. We filled out all of the paperwork for the adoption and learned that the puppies temporary name was Mark and that in addition he had a birthday almost exactly the same as my fathers(Mark happens to be my fathers name).
Storm came home with me that day and the next day we were out at our first training with Valley Search and Rescue. Storm and I trained, sometimes as much as four times a week some weeks for almost a year, working towards our state certification. We had our training ups and downs and never having trained a dog for this before, I certainly had my doubts at times if we would ever get certified.
We took most of this summer off due to the heat and people being on vacation, but when we came back, something just clicked with Storm. He was just on it finding people and giving his alert without hesitation. At that point I decided that I would attempt to schedule Storm and I to take our certification test.
This weekend, the culmination of almost a year of training, Storm and I passed our state certification test and became a certified K9 Search and Rescue team.

Our house is happy again!
We lost our feline friend, Henry, on July 5, 2012. He was 14 years old and the best cat you could ever want. Prior to Henry, we had a female cat, Daphne, who lived to be 22 years old. Henry was a smart and loving companion and my husband and I were lost without him. My husband was hesitant about getting another cat but I told him the only way we can try to heal our broken hearts is to help another animal who needs a home. I went on the Peaceable Kingdom website and found they were offering cats for adoption at Pet Smart so off we went to Pet Smart. There were so many to chose from and we loved them all but one in particular, Oreo, really touched our hearts and we started the adoption process for him and were able to bring him home 7/11/12. He is such a joy and we love him dearly. He's very happy exploring his new surroundings and appears extremely content. He has made our little family whole again and we are so grateful to Peaceable Kingdom and their volunteer, Leigh Ann,
for allowing him to come into our home. Thank you for being there for homeless pets.

Milo
I saw this tiny little kitten at the Pet Adoption. He was bouncing around the cage and it was instant love.
I recently lost my dog, a toy poodle after 18 years and my house was not the same without her.
This little guy runs, plays, keeps me company while I work on my computer, he is a constant companion. I can't imagine my home without him now.
My other cat who was mourning the loss of dog as well, is playing mom to our new addition. Milo has helped the healing process in our house.
Thank you Peaceable Kingdom.

Happy Tail
This is Buddy. (formerly known as Achilles). After the passing of our beloved dog Pepper of 14+ years Debbie and I decided to adopt a shelter dog and we ended up getting the best dog ever! Buddy loves to go for walks and he loves to play. He has a good apatite too! He is getting along well with the rest of the family, my son Jason and his son Tristan. He really takes well to people, not so good with other animals. We're going to have to work on that! Thanks Peacable Kingdom for your labors of love to the animal kingdom and keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Mark & Debbie Mauricio
