Our New "Buddy"

I saw "Buddy" put for adoption at PetsMart. He was so gentle and affectionate that I immediately decided to adopt him, without even consulting my wife, for I was sure she would love him as I did. But we had another, fat, spoiled cat, which has been our only pet for 9 years. It was quite difficult in the beginning to get Buddy used to his new home and companions and to get Simsim to accept his new friend. Now everything is wonderful. The two cats coexist peacefully (I am sure they will become friends in the future). There is a funny part to this story. When we get Buddy we immediately noticed his larger-than-usual head. He also had some crusty things on his skin. We bathed him and took him to the vet. The poor thing had some allergies to something unknown and his large head was "puffed" due to his allergy and the crusty things on his skin were the result of his constant scratching. We treated him with antihistamine and his head became normal and the crusty things mostly disap
peared. Buddy is a world-class beggar and a thief, very curly, and starved for love an affection. We thank Peaceable Kingdom for giving us such a wonderful companion.

  1. Thanks for the update. Buddy had originally adopted me when he started coming up on my patio. I wanted to take him in but have two very territorial cats of my own. I volunteer at the shelter and decided to bring him in and put him up for adoption. After several months I was getting more and more worried that Buddy would never get adopted. I then the call from a volunteer who said a very nice man saw him at a Petsmart adoption event and decided to take him. I was overjoyed that he had found a forever home. I had gotten very attached to Buddy during the months he was on my patio and the following months that he was at the shelter. I think of him often and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving him a furever home and a wonderful life. I hope he and Simsim become best of friends in the near future. Thanks, Michelle
